First appointment instructions
For new patients, an initial consultation is needed for a thorough assessment and discussion of your requirements. Once you have received your first appointment booking details, please download the patient registration form (below), and email the completed form to booking@snda.com.au. If you have any difficulties, our friendly team will be able to assist you.
What to bring to your first Special Needs Dentistry appointment (if applicable)?
- Any available health summary from medical general practitioner or specialist including hospital discharge papers or behavioural support plans and any advance health directives or statement of choices forms
- Medication list, including name and dosages/frequency of use
- Any physical aids/transfer aids/pillows/comfort blankets or items that may make your dental visit more comfortable for you
- Items you use for home oral hygiene care, including toothbrushes, mouth rinses, interdental brushes/floss, and toothpaste
- If you require a carer for assistance to transfer into a dental chair, please organise to bring them along to your dental appointment
- For any special transport requirements (e.g. ambulance transfer/domiciliary visit requirements), please discuss these arrangements with the dental team before your first dental appointment
What happens during your first appointment?
Your first consultation will be with Dr Lydia, in which she will gain a comprehensive and holistic understanding of your oral health. This will include discussion of your wishes, in addition to an exploration of the broad range of factors which may impact the condition of your oral health or the type of care required. Along with your dental examination, Dr Lydia may also seek a full health history and radiographs to complete her detailed exploration of your dental and medical history and current condition.
From the outset, and throughout your treatment, you and your carers/guardians are considered active partners in your oral health care. Please expect to be engaged in our discussion of your dental management goals and options, as this will ensure your oral health management plan is tuned to your specific needs and desires. From this conversation and our examinations, we will create an individualised management plan which will then be shared with you, your carers/guardians and your referring clinician.

Payment Options
For new patients, an initial consultation is needed for a thorough assessment and discussion of your requirements. There will be an initial consultation fee. Any other diagnostic assessment required on the day will be advised and estimated cost will be discussed.
We accept all major credit cards and cash payments. Our reception staff will assist in discussing payment options (including payment plans) during your visit.
